NPT (National Pipe Thread) adapter is a standardized fitting with the tapered threads in a wider diameter at the base of the threads.

The female threaded end is used to tighten with a male threaded adapter to create the connection.  The other tri-clamp end could be used to convert a tri-clamp connection to a male/female NPT threaded fitting.
